Wadsworth Scholars

Launching the Next Generation of Golf Course Leaders

Investing Today in Golf’s Tomorrow

The Wadsworth Scholars program reflects the Foundation’s commitment to investing in people whose passion, talent and character will shape golf’s future. Established in 2018 through a partnership with the American Society of Golf Course Architects Foundation, the program provides scholarships and professional development opportunities for aspiring golf course architects and early-career professionals interested in golf course development. Beyond financial assistance, recipients attend the ASGCA Annual Meeting, where they gain valuable access to accomplished golf course architects and industry leaders. This unique experience offers firsthand insight into the profession while building relationships that often become the foundation for successful careers. Since its inception, the program has helped launch the careers of talented individuals who are now contributing to golf course architecture, construction, renovation and design around the world.

An Investment That Lasts a Lifetime

The greatest value of the Wadsworth Scholars program extends well beyond the scholarship itself. Past recipients consistently credit the experience with opening doors to internships, mentorships, employment opportunities and lifelong professional relationships. Several have gone on to work with leading golf course architecture firms and construction companies, while others have continued their education and started careers that are shaping the game’s future. In 2023, the program expanded to include both college students and early-career professionals, broadening its reach and creating even more opportunities for emerging talent. Guided by the Foundation’s core values of integrity, self-discipline and charity, the Wadsworth Scholars program exemplifies our belief that investing in people is one of the most meaningful ways to strengthen the golf industry and extend golf’s positive influence.

How to Apply

Wadsworth Scholarships are awarded once each year. Applications are available beginning in February, with a submission deadline in May. They are reviewed by Wadsworth Foundation and ASGCA Foundation representatives, who join scholarship recipients at the ASGCA Annual Meeting that fall.

“The support our team receives from the Wadsworth Golf Foundation is truly amazing. Our program is evolving with better practice technology and stronger tournament schedules. Thank you for always thinking of us and being a part of our growing success! We are hopeful for good things to happen this spring!”
