Supporting the Next Generation through First Green

Golf courses are places to learn, explore and come together. Through its support of First Green, Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation is helping students experience the golf course in a way that goes beyond the game itself.

In April 2026, Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation provided a $10,000 grant to the GCSAA Foundation to support First Green, an innovative STEAM education program that turns golf courses into hands-on classrooms. The continued support reflects our commitment to growing the game of golf while creating meaningful opportunities for the next generation.

Bringing STEAM Education to the Golf Course
First Green uses golf courses as live laboratories where students can explore science, technology, engineering, art and math through hands-on activities. Rather than learning solely from a textbook or classroom, students can see these concepts at work in the natural environment of a golf course.

Since 1997, First Green has helped connect students with golf courses and the people who maintain them. From 2018 through 2025, members hosted 429 field trips that reached more than 24,800 students across 47 states. Each field trip averages approximately 75 students, and for many, the experience represents their first time visiting a golf course.

Creating Opportunities to Discover Golf
We believe supporting the game of golf means investing in the people who will shape its future.

First Green provides an opportunity to introduce young people to golf through education and exploration. Students gain a better understanding of the environment around them while learning about the science and technology involved in maintaining a golf course.

“There are few organizations that we support that positively devote their energy to growing the game of golf through education like the GCSAA Foundation and its First Green program. The residual effects of this program are immeasurable, and these young adults will forever hold golf a little closer to their hearts,” said Doug Myslinski, Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation director.

A Continued Commitment to First Green
Wadsworth Golf Charities Foundation’s 2026 contribution continues its longstanding support of First Green and the GCSAA Foundation. With this latest $10,000 donation, Wadsworth remains a member of the Foundation’s Platinum Tee Club and has reached the Governor’s Club level of the Cumulative Giving Program, recognizing organizations that have contributed between $50,000 and $99,999 since 1987.

Our continued support represents an investment in education, opportunity and the future of golf. By helping bring students onto golf courses as outdoor classrooms, First Green is creating experiences that can spark curiosity, encourage learning and introduce young people to a game they may carry with them for years to come.

The future of golf depends on creating opportunities for new generations to discover everything the game has to offer. We are proud to help make those opportunities possible by supporting First Green.
